People Watching

Uncategorized 2 Comments »

I was tired today. Instead of doing three hours like I was suppose to Wes and I rode down to the lakefront and had a coffee at Alterra. Apparently, that is the cool place to go in Milwaukee because it is always busy. Now it is even more cool because I have been there and as a result will probably get even busier. Anyway, it was fun sitting by the door watching people walk in and out.

Aside from that I did laundry and not much else. Today was one of those days where I sat in my chair thinking about all of the things I should do but not having the motivation to do any of them. Maybe tomorrow will be better?

Frank is gone which is……AWESOME!! He flew to San Fran with his girlfriend Steph a few days early. I don’t leave until Friday morning. Anyway, Frank left me all kinds of things to eat like turkey, cheese, bread, and peanuts. Since he is gone I don’t even have to worry about him beating me up for eating his food. For lunch today I had a turkey and cheese sandwhich with peanuts on the side. Thanks Frank.

I have to go smoke Wes at darts………I am up $2……….yeeeeehaaaaaaaw!

Frequent Driver Miles

It feels like I have been gone for a week but it was only three days. I am completely knackered and that is an understatement. I think this trip took a little something out of me?

I got up at 6:00 AM on Friday to pack and get ready for the trip to Binghampton, NY for Chris Thather. Wes and I met Nick at Team Sports, loaded up the van, and departed at 8:30 AM. Before we left though I had to change the saddle on my bike. I think I had adjusted the previous one so much that I ended up bending the rails. Maybe I can get comfortable on this one?? Probably not!
Friday the three of us drove to Toronto where we stayed with Wes’s second cousin Roland and his wife Wanda. It was the first time I had ever been in Canada and it really was not that different except for some French writting on road signs, lots of Tim Hortons (Dunkin Donut like chain), and the locals with funny accents. It was cool to be oot’ and aboot’ in Canada, ay! This is coming from a guy who always gets ripped on for his accent. It is nice to be on the other side once in awhile. The people in Canada seemed to be very friendly and nice.
Roland and Wanda were great hosts. They cooked us burgers for dinner and had breakfast ready when we got up. After breakfast on Saturday Nick and I went for a ride and checked out downtown Toronto. We were fortunate enough too meet a local named Holly on the ride. She had grown up in Toronto and was an awesome tour guide showing Nick and I all of the landmarks in the downtown area. Thanks Holly!
We did not get out of Toronto until late which was made even later by the fact that we had to stop at Whole Foods. It was one of only two Whole Foods in Canada and on top of that it was Saturday; sample day at Whole Foods. We filled up on samples and bulk and then hit the road.
The next stop was Niagra Falls. I was really impressed with the falls, they were huge! I would compare it to the Grand Canyon in that I cannot describe them you have to see them yourself. There were a ton of tourists and it cost $18.00 to park your vehicle. Needless to say we did not park the van but I did manage to get some good pictures out the window. The falls were definetly cool but not cool enough to justify spending $18.00.
From there we drove to Binghampton and made it in at 9:00 PM. We had to get up rather early for breakfast and to get ready with the race starting at noon. Last year when I did the race the hotel we were staying at (same one as this year) had an awesome breakfast buffet but this year it did not seem as good. Instead of spending the $8.95 I opted for the Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal I had brought with. I had to use water though since I had no milk. I did mix some coffee creamer in with the water so at least it had the appearance of milk.
The race was pretty hard and at the end I attacked, and attacked, and attacked again but nothing managed to stick and it came down to a field sprint. Frank mixed it up in the sprint and ended up 9th while I finished in “shitteenth” place!
After the race we loaded up the van once again and drove non-stop back to Milwaukee. We pulled into town at about 8:15 AM and since then I have only managed to shower, eat, and sleep. I am tired, I wonder why?

On the Road Again

It is really early! Got up at 6 AM this morning I am really impressed with myself. Need to drop Pipp off at the Airport and then Nick, Wes, and I are driving to Toronto on our way to Chris Thather.

I have never been to Canada before and I grew up pretty close to the border. I am sort of excited and I think I am even going to see Niagra Falls! Does anyone have a barrel I could borrow for the weekend? It doesn’t even have to be full of beer. I actually would prefer it to be empty!

Have a great weekend and I should have some pictures from the trip on Monday or Tuesday.

Girls Behind the Radiator

Today was a pretty eventful day. Got up at the usual nine o’clock am and had my usual cup of coffee. The rest of the day however, was anything but usual.

First, Wes and I went to Walgreens and I bought some wax. I am sick of shaving because my roomates always yell at me for taking too long in the shower. Actually, it does take a bit because I shave my legs, arms, and chest. Why? It makes me feel sleek and fast! Anyway, I bought the wax and read the instructions. I applied the green goo to my arms and stuck the white paper to it and pulled. It hurt and I did not even get all of the hair. I think I might have got every other hair. Maybe I have to grow it out?

At least it was not as bad as the Nair debocle in Arkansas when I Naired my chest. My stomach ended up red and bloody and my nipples oozed for days. I had a hard time wearing a shirt for a while. At least I fit in with the Arkansas locals by going shirtless. The only thing I was missing was some rotten teeth and a big pickup truck!

Later in the afternnon I did the usual Wednesday night mountain bike ride with Tom Schuler. It was fun and filled with the usual crashes. Tom had the best crash of the evening where he took some good skin off of his elbow and leg. It looked pretty cool. I brought a banana and ended up dropping two thirds of it in the dirt. I was hungry the rest of the ride.

To cap the evening off Wes and I found two cute girls behind the radiator (picture) in our room. They really did not have too much to say but that is okay because Wes gets sort of nervous around girls and doesn’t talk that much. I really think they like us though. Tom even got to meet them when he came over to check out the new house.

Tom was pretty impressed with the house. We have furniture, digital cable television, wireless internet, stove, and fridge. Thanks to everyone who helped us out! Billy for letting me live with him for a bit. Franks mom and dad for the stove and fridge. Steph and Mrs. B. for tons of cool stuff. Tim Leroy for more furniture, and many others.

Wes Hartman Interview

G: Are you full?

WH: I had a lot of bread, it was good. Ciabatta.

G: Why in the hell did you get up at five A.M today?

WH: Because my roomate sleeps louder than shit, I think he was thirsty?

G: Who is your roomate?

WH: I think you are douche bag!

G: What do you mean I was sleeping loud?

WH: You were making lapping noises with your mouth and I thought you were thirsty. Plus you were snoring, really loud. Once I was up I could not go back to sleep.

G: How was my Honey Mustard Dressing that you ate tonight?

WH: Your Honey Mustard Dressing was good but the salad was pretty unimpressive.

G: What do you think of Laguna Beach the tv show?

WH: It is addicting but ………..it is crap!

G: I think you are crap.

G: Why do you and Frank call me oblivion?

WH: Beacause it really really fits. Just ask the six guys that got guttered today? You are an interesting dude.

G: Did I almost drop you on the group ride today?

WH: You made me hurt but no drop.

G: Do you remember the race where I almost dropped you?

WH: You mean that race that I won? Yeah.

G: What do you think of the your female stalker on my weblog?

WH: I think her first name, annonymous, is very unique. I call her Ann for short.

G: Are you single?

WH: Yeah (sigh), very!

G: Have you did anything to improve your predicament?

WH: Rich tried to help me once at a bar but I failed miserably.

G: Why don’t you like the way I garnish my waffles? (picture)

WH: You destroy it with all of the crap you put on it. Protein Powder come on…..I have to pee but I don’t want to walk upstairs.

I think that is enough of Wes Hartman for one evening. He should probably get some sleep.

Other than that we are moved into our new house and got the cable and everything hooked up. We are officially an operating household. I have all of my shirts on hangers and I am even sleeping on my own bed. Life is good……….
