My new hardware.
Day 24 = No diet soda
Day 1 = No dessert
I had to set my alarm for 7:00 Am so I could make it to my 8:00 Am doctor appointment. Actually, I did not set my alarm I called my mom and told her to give me a wake up call at 7:00 Am. I guess that could still be considered setting an alarm, right?
Sure enough the phone rang at 7:00 Am but I told my mom to call back in fifteen minutes because I did not want to get up yet (equivalent to hitting the snooze). Fifteen minutes later I got another call and it was time to get up.
The doctor visit went well and he replaced my hard plastic neck brace with a soft one. Even though I am suppose to wear this new brace for three weeks I don’t think I am going to wear it that much. I feel pretty good except for some sore shoulders and soreness when I breathe deeply. Besides a touch of discomfort I feel confident with how my back has healed and think it would be good to go without the brace.
After the doctor I had a wheat bran waffle with banana and then went for a ride. It was rather cold and my right hand froze becuase I had to stop and adjust my saddle tons. Lucky Frank was not with me or he would have had an aneurysm. Even with all the adusiting I still could not get it comfortable, argh! With the saddle adjustments my ride time was four hours but I think I only rode three.
A couple of hours into the ride I stopped to go to the bathroom on this gravel dead end road. No one was around but immediatley as I started peeing two cars come out of the only driveway on the road and a school bus stopped and dropped off four kids! UNBELIEVEABLE! I was pissed (pun intended) but did end up getting a bit of a laugh out of the situation. It never seems to fail that whenever I stop to piss every person in the county comes to see what is going on.
I think I might be going to El Joppa’s tonight and doing my own mini training camp in Madison. I hope it does not snow!
later,
g.
PS. I also wanted to say thank to Rebecca??? for putting my link on the www.wicycling.org website.
