Fix-a-Flat

Uncategorized 4 Comments »

Pretty much everyday for the past six months Karl “Grandpa” Menzies (more on that later) has told me that things will get better and my streak of bad luck will turn around.  Today, however, definitely was not the start of my good luck.

I had planned on doing a little shopping after going for an easy ride.  However, when I got back from my ride I noticed that my Jeep had yet another flat tire.  This is the same tire that had previously been fixed by Sears on two different occasions! YEAHHHHHHHH…….SEARS!

I was going to bring my car back to Sears but figured what is the point.  They will charge me $30 to wait around all afternoon so they can “fix” a tire that will go flat in two days.

Instead I bought a can of fix-a-flat from the fuel store and fixed the tire myself in five minutes.  On the can it says it is only a temporary solution but not for me.  I am making it a permanent solution!

After that I went to the food store and stepped in some watermelon gum.  At least my shoe smells fruity.

My day actually has not been that bad………that tire fires me up though.

On a side note I think Hollywood is officially getting old………he does have a birthday coming up on June 17th.    Anyway, he has been blaming it on jet lag but every night for the past week he has been going to bed at 8 PM and getting up at 5 AM.  I thought only the 70 plus crowd did that?  Last night he did not want to rent a movie at Blockbuster because it was 7:30 PM and close to his bedtime!

Holy crap, I think I am actually starting to feel a bit better and it is awesome.  The river of fluid that was draining from my ear has diminished to a trickle, I no longer have a fever, it feels like I am breathing with more than one tenth of a lung, my sore throat has almost disappeared, and my nose…….that is still plugged………….but it is cool.  Plus, it is sort of fun feeling the stuff move from one side of my nose to the other when I roll over at night.

During the process of getting over this “Ambien Bush Hooker Bird Flu” I have become clinically bored.  There is only so many times I can pace back and forth through the house or flick through all of the tv channels or look to see what there is to eat in the fridge.  Thank God for the twelve pack of Diet Mt. Dew I drank today and the Laguna Beach Marathon that was on MTV.  I think Diet Mountain Dew can cure anything by the way!

Aside from sitting in the house I have been walking to the park down the road to do some stretching and nap in the sun.  For some reason it seems like there is a large number of guys with dogs at the park……….hmmm maybe I at the wrong kind of park and don’t know it?

Today I actually did meet a nice girl there.  She came over and starting chatting with me while I was stretching and must have talked for half an hour straight.  She was sort of interesting and not too annoying the only problem is that she was probably about eighty years old.

Karl Karl “Cover Boy” Menzies. Just when I thought things could not get worse I find out Hollywood is on the cover of a magazine! He has been talking about it non-stop lucky my ear is leaking and I cannot hear him. Honestly though…………..I am sort of jealous…………I hope Karl doesn’t read this

Here is a quick update of what I have been up to the past few days. Late Tuesday evening Hollywood and I made it back to Folsom after a month long trip in Europe. Wednesday morning I got up nice and early and went to the emergency room becuase I felt like death and had felt that way for the previous five days. The verdict from the doctor was that I had a massive infection. This included a sore throat, sinus goo, two ear infections and one ear draining, junk in my lungs, and the tumor on my ass. I no longer had a massive fever though which was nice.

I guess the previous antibiotics that I was taking for my saddle sore that I got at Dunkerque were not strong enough. When they ran out in the Peace Race the infection was not totally killed and then things went down hill. Hopefully this will fix everything and I will be ready to go for Philly week. Until then I am just trying to recover and hopefully I can be on the bike shortly.

Wow, I am tired from typing……….time for a nap.
