Packing

Uncategorized No Comments »

Okay, I admit I have been a pretty lousey blogger as of late but hopefully you can cut me a little slack since it has been a pretty busy past few weeks and I had not internet in Milwaukee.

If my memory serves me correct I made it back to Folsom really late on Wednesday evening.  The trip back was pretty uneventful except for the fact that I managed to get feta cheese in my eye.  I am not really sure how I managed that one but when I tried to remove it the cheese only smeared and made my eye worse.  Needless to say my eye has been red for the last few days.

Since I have been back in town I have been getting stuff organized for the move to Boulder, CO on Monday.  I rented a UHAUL trailer, returned a table and chairs to Mike and Nicole Sayers (thanks for letting us borrow the table guys), cleaned the oven which was really nasty, and procrastinated at doing too much packing before I absolutely have to.  I should start getting a little more motivated since there are only a few days left but I don’t want to have all of the fun cleaning myself and think I should wait for Karl to get back to join me on Monday?

Today Sayers and I did the local river ride downtown and it was fun like usually execpt for the massive pileup halfway through the ride.River Ride I hope no one got too hurt.  The weather was awesome today since it was not 105 like it has been for the past two weeks (I was told that since I was not here the entire time).River Ride I even had to start with arm warmers which were probably unecessary but it was below 80 F.

Okay, I really should do something productive.

With there being a lack of interent at the “TosaTearDown” I think Hartman and I have found every free wireless internet place in the greater Milwaukee area.  It is nice to know a couple of different locations because if I want to check my e-mail twice a day then I don’t have to feel like such a nerd going to the same place twice.  This afternoon I have elected to hit up the free wireless at “Stone Creek Coffee Roasters” since the fair skinned computer video game people at the portal were starting to make me feel a little uncomfortable.

Since my last post Superweek has come to an end and a new furry house guest has moved into the “TosaTearDown.”Furry House Guest

I was unable to defened my Downer Avenue title from last year but I still had fun and raced hard.  ahhhhMom and dad made it down for the race and there were a ton of other friends out cheering for me which was awesomeDowner Avenue .

I was actually  pretty tired yesterday so I did not do much besides eat, sleep, and entertain the new house guest at the “TosaTearDown”  I don’t know how but a chipmunk has found its way into the house and is taking over the place.  I was sitting in a recliner looking at the pictures in the newspaper when I looked over and saw this furry thing kicking back on the sofa!  Then a few hours later I saw the same chipmunk in the kitchen looking for something to eat!Furry Thing

Under normal circumstances a chipmunk in the house would not bother me but since being victim of a vicious squirrel attack a few weeks back I am a bit jumpy around furry little critters.  Needless to say I have been sleeping with one eye open.

This evening is the last night I have to worry about the chipmunk in the house because tomorrow I fly back to California.  I will only be in California for a few days since Karl and myself are moving from Folsom to Boulder.

While Menzies is busy winning races at the “Tour de Toona” (nice job winning the tt Hollywood) I will be back in California loading our shit into a UHAUL and cleaning the apartment.  That way when Karl gets back from Pennsylvania we will be set to drive to Boulder and move into our new place there the first of the month.

Wow, I must admit I am a really nice guy for doing that.  Ahh, it is not that bad.  Since I seem to move to a new place every few months I am getting pretty efficient at packing. I am planning on staying in Boulder for awhile though or for at least a year since that is how long the lease lasts. I think I get a bit chlosterphobic if I stay in one place too long?

Guess what?  I am doing laundry again.  I really have no need to be doing laundy since I washed clothes a few days ago but it does give me an excuse to go to the internet gaming place across the street from the laundromat while still feeling productive.

The internet place across from the laundromat is called “The Portal” and it is a rather interesting hangout for gaming people.  It is dark and cold which is great but I shit you not the majority of the people playing computer games in here are either albino or have not seen the sun weeks!  Most of them have glasses with either a beard or some type of facial hair and say things such as “I made it to the dungeon but was unable to find the quest before I got killed by a druid!”  They seem like nice people and if it is true that opposites attract than I am going to hang out here and look for a girlfriend!

Tonight is the biggest race of Superweek, The Great Downer Avenue Crit.  I am looking forward to the race and defending the title from last year.

Last night was the Food Folks and Spokes crit in Kenosha which is always a fun race. My aunt Catherine, uncle Jim his wife Kay, and dad were there to watch which was nice.   Hollywood ended up finishing fourth and I think I got last.  I was happy with last place though because I rode hard and actually had good legs.

Lastly before I go I just wanted to inform everyone in the Milwaukee area that the Speedway Station Store on the intersection of North Ave and 70th St. is the best gas station in the area.  They have 44oz fountain diet soda for only $0.84.  That sounds awesome but it gets even better because they offer Diet Mountain Dew which is a rarity when it comes to fountain drinks.

The past few days have been pretty uneventful since I did a nice block of racing.  Don’t get me wrong the racing is fun but aside from the racing, the hour pre-race ride in the morning, breakfast, Pre-Racegetting ready and driving to the race does not allow time for much else.

It was awesome that Hollywood Menzies won the Superweek Cedarburg Crit the other night in front of a large crowd.  I am sure that he is relieved to have ended his drought since he had not won a race in over a week!  Karl is impressive and so were my teammates Greg and TJ who also raced.

Yesterday, I did almost nothing and did not feel guilty about it.  I had only one task to do all day and that was to wash laundry but that obviously did not get done since I am at the Laundromat this morning washing clothes.

I did manage to replace a broken bottle cage on my bike with a new one and write Wes multiple IOU’s for the fudge pops of his I ate in the freezer!  Sorry, Wes but I am serious about the IOUs so don’t throw them away.

Later yesterday evening Frank had to do some shoe shopping so Wes and I went to the mall with him.Mall  We went mainly because the mall has air conditioning not to keep Frank company.  Mall  MallSince neither of the three of us were that motivated to get back to the “TosaTeardown” we killed as much time as possibleMall  by going to the bookstore,Mall eating dinnerMall and catching a movie.Mall

On a totally unrelated topic I was informed that Frank “GMDB” Pipp inspires to become a plumber upon retiring from racing withing the next ten yearsMall.  I think he meets the qualifications?
