Saturated Fatty

Uncategorized 7 Comments »

For the past few months I have had one of those wireless powertap things but I have been too lazy to put a tire and cassette on it.  However, yesterday I got my ass into gear and got it on my bike….not necessarily to see what little power I can put out but more so I could see how far I rode. For some reason I get great satifaction about seeing my bike computer hit the 100 mile mark….so I have some long hours to log!

DSC03082.JPG Yesterday went out for a ride by myself and ran into P.LO, J. Anthony, Chuck Diesel, and Ben R.  It was nice…riding by yourself without a draft is tough!

DSC03083.JPG P.LO took us  on a ncie ride….nothing like breaking in my new powertap on 2.5 hour of rough ass/rocky jeep road.

DSC03085.JPG The views were definitely nice though and we only got two flats.  I rode really slow and would like to thank “P to the L O” and Jesse for waiting for me.

DSC03087.JPG On a side note while updating I just witnessed my roomate Wes smash a pint of Ben and Jerry’s Chubby Hubby Ice Cream…and thus earning the nickname saturated fatty!

DSC03088.JPG He ended up eating 1320 Calories, 80 grams of fat which 44 grams were saturated. Very impressive…punch it out dawg!

To be honest if Wes decided to be bulemic this evening I would forgive him.

Okay, later,

Joe Martin

Thought I would give a quick update of the happenings at Joe Marting while I have some free time between this mornings rather hard road race and this evenings uphill tt.

DSC03076.JPG To start with I would like to mention how Scotty clogged the toilet at our host house so we made him wear a toilet seat around his neck for punishment.  Seriously if you want your toilet clogged and maybe even a little overflowage just have a pro cycling team stay at your house!
DSC03080.JPG The quote of the day definitely goes to Chris Baldwin who in regards to my new Rolls Ti saddle says, “Hey Garrett, 1979 called and they want their saddle back!” I think it is vintage and cool…sort of like those button down shirts with the pearly buttons!

Lastly and most importantly I have not made a saddle adjustment in over two days which I think is a new record for the past two years! I wonder how long I can go?

Time to go get ready for this uphill tt…..

Breaking News

Uncategorized 6 Comments »

First off I would like to start out with some breaking news….I think I am going to buy an RV! Yep, I have been looking at some Class “C” RV’s in the twenty four foot range and am waiting to find a steal of a deal. My lease in Boulder is not up until the end of July so I have some time to look! Once August rolls around hopefully I am residing in my RV and can go wherever the wind takes me…..or at least until I run out of gas money.

I am not really sure if I stand a chance of any sort of relationship with a normal girl while living in an RV but who knows. I wonder what a girl would look for in an RV?

Aside from my RV dreams the team made it to Springdale, Arkansas on Tuesday evening after leaving Silver City, New Mexico on Monday. It was a good two day drive and I was able to watch four movies along the way….Mean Girls, Hotel Rwanda, Super Troopers, and The Perfect Score….even though I have watched Super Troopers at least ten times it was still the best!

Tomorrow the Joe Martin Stage Race starts where I had a lot of success two years ago so I am looking forward to it. I do know one thing for sure it really can’t get much worse for me than Gila!

Here are some pictures from our drive across Texas and Oklahoma:

DSC03071.JPG Dinner stop at Denny’s….nothing beats breakfast for dinner!

DSC03072.JPG Dick London pissing at Denny’s.

DSC03073.JPG Us sitting down for dinner at Denny’s.

DSC03075.JPG A masssive cross in Oklahoma.

Wow, those were some uneventful pictures! Time for me to start taking some better ones.

Lastly, aside from buying an RV I need a new computer because my is going to crap so thanks to Omer for letting me update on his. I am also riding a different size bike this weekend…I am officially a nut job and am switching shit again….thanks for putting up with me though Benno, Mark, and Glenn!!!

Volunteer Work

Tour of the Gila is officially over and  tomorrow morning the team is off to Joe Martin via a long ass van ride across Texas which should be entertaining!

Anyway here is a quick run down of Gila…

DSC03070.JPG This is how I felt for the entire five days of the tour….yes that is shit!

DSC03063.JPG My room for the past week at Rick and Ellen’s guest house outside of Silver City.  I would like to thank Rick and Ellen for letting us stay in their guest house!

DSC03064.JPG  Rolando, our guest rider for gila who is originally from Costa Rica but currently resides in Durango and likes to eat ice cream.

DSC03065.JPG Scotty, my permanent teammate and roommate for the past week who has long flowing hair, snores at night, has bad gas and also likes ice cream!

DSC03066.JPG Getting ready for the crit on Saturday in downtown Silver City where Richie got second and BJM got fourth!

DSC03068.JPG  This picture is for K-Man who requested it….not sure why but like I said…I fulfill most requests.

DSC03069.JPG Last but not least after today’s stage we did a little volunteer work by helping a special kid make banana bread….wait that is my teammate Teddy….so yeah, we still helped a special kid make banana bread!  I hope he lets me eat some of it.

Next up is Joe Martin which starts on Friday in Fayetteville, Arkansas….I am a bit nervous to see if my legs show up.

I am Back

Uncategorized 2 Comments »

Okay, I am back after not posting for a few weeks…..sorry about that! To be honest I was cracking on the entire bike racing thing after the Georgia ass cutting debacle!  I did not even want to look at my bike let alone talk about it on some website plus who wants to hear about my ass anyway.

After taking a handful of days and hanging out at home in Colorado with my teammate Scotty and his girlfriend Emily I am currently in New Mexico bleeding out of my eye balls at the Tour of the Gila.

I am in a way starting my season over…..and believe it or not am starting to like riding again…which I actually thought was impossible!!!  Hopefully my new combination of soaps and chamois cream will work but I guess only time will tell.

Anyway, I wanted to say thanks to Scotty and Emily for making me smile a few times and being the third wheel while I was back at home in my depressed state.  I also wanted to wish Emily a speedy recovery after taking a nasty fall desceding a mountain.  She is a tough girl and will heal up quickly.

IMG_0319.jpg One on my first rides back on a lovely spring day in Colorado with Scotty and Emily.

IMG_0321.jpg Emily was unable to finish that ride after hitting the deck hard and ended up in the emergency room with some nice cuts.  Lucky she was wearing a helmet…and I cringe everything I see someone not wearing one!  Heal up quickly Emily.

Time for me to go eat some ice cream….I did say I am starting my season over but I am not in the watch what I am eating phase yet!
