Everyone Deserves a Medal!

Cascade is hard! Mountains look really pretty and all but they make me miserable when we race up them.  If I were a sprinter I could always use the “I am a sprinter so I am allowed to ride up mountains slow card.”  However, I am not so I just have to use the “I ride up mountains slow card!”  Anyway, I survived today and the rest of the boys rode awesome with BJM getting 5th on the stage.

Speaking of being miserable I just got off the phone with Hollywood Menzies who is flying to Milwaukee to do Superweek.  He said he got up at  3:40 AM this morning and made the hour drive to DIA in order to make his 6:30 AM flight.  However, when he arrived at the airport Karl learned his flight is not until tomorrow morning!!! That hurts a little eh!
DSC03150.JPG  Me with Mt. Bachelor in the background…yes I was able to smile because I had finished!  Whatever happened to the every finisher gets a medal thing…I finished and got shit! We had to ride up to the Mt. Bachelor ski resort from Bend, down the other side and then eventually back up the other side!

Today was stage two of the Cascade Cycling Classic…actually I am going to say it was stage three because yesterday felt like two stages for me! Anyway, BJM crushed it and won the mountain top finish at the Mckenzie Pass lava fields.  I on the other hand destroyed the gruppeto and bridged to my brother (he is racing) up the road so we could have a chat before the finish.

DSC03149.JPG Aside from  that my teammate Teddy lost his gps on the way up the final climb today and  it got run over by approximately three cars…sorry Teddy but it is pretty funny!  Anyway, just a heads up don’t ask him for directions!

DSC03144.JPG The lava fields where we finished…and where it was around one billion degrees fahrenheit.

DSC03147.JPG Lastly I took this one for my mom…the good looking guy on the left is me and the other fella is my brother Shane.

Time to go and rest up for tomorrow’s morning TT which is then followed by an evening crit. I wonder if I am going to smash Frank again in the TT like I did at Nature Valley?

Holy bejesus today’s first stage of the Cascade Cycling Classic was hard for me! It is always great for the confidence to be completely knackered after the first day of a hard tour and apparently today was the easy day…son of a…. In my defense we did have to roll on the front for a bit which only brought me from about 97% miserable to around the 100% miserable mark! I guess it was just one of those days ( I checked to see if my brakes were rubbing half a dozen times) because I do not think the stage was that hard…right?
DSC03143.JPG Hey it is me after the stage with a massive case of CBF syndrome…for those not down with the lingo that means “Can’t be F*%&ed” to do anything! Things like putting on shorts, showering, eating (can be a good thing), or just plain moving becomes a chore!

Okay, I should go and try to pin my numbers on a clean jersey.

DSC03142.JPG  Maybe my roommate Scotty can pin my numbers on for me???  That might be too much to ask since he already puts up with my nakedness.  It is a bit hot up on the second story thus, I kick off all of my sheets when I sleep at night which normally would be fine.  However, I like to “airate” when I sleep (Doctors Orders by the way) Therefore, if Scotty peeks over the couch when he awakes there might be a special surprise in store for him!
Anyway, tomorrow is another mountain top finish…BJM did awesome today and got 4th in today’s mountain top finish so hopefully we can keep him fresh for the finish tomorrow.

PS. Yes, I did shower after the race…just wanted to clarify so all of the cute girls who read this don’t think I am completely disgusting!

PPS. Speaking of CBF syndrome…I wonder what Mike Jones is up to?

A lot has happened since my last update….bike racing, moving into a new place in Boulder, the 4th of July, some new bling, etc.  Currently I am in the Bay Area for a few races then off to Cascade.  Hopefully, when I get back to Boulder I will have some new pictures of the new place.
