Woke up this morning to some fresh snow on the ground…keep in mind it was 70F yesterday.  Anyway, like we initially planned Jonny and I got out at 10:00 AM so we could ride down to the Koppenburg course and register for the race today.  Unfortunately, when we arrived at the start finish no one was there! Apparently the race was cancelled due to the weather…toughen up people!

DSC00389.JPG I would rather be running!

DSC00390.JPGOn the way home we hit up a coffee shop to thaw our frozen fingers and toes.

The rest of the afternoon was spent on my taxes. Last year I ended up going to H&R Block and paid to have my taxes done due to the fact that the numbers I kept getting myself said I owed a ton!  This year I am going to give it a go on my own again and hopefully I come up with some happy numbers!

I am not sure about everyone else out there but I have concluded that the month of March is the worst month of the year by far!  Not only have I felt piss poor on the bike the past four years in March (thanks to looking back on training journals) but the weather is subpar and there is no greenery which adds up to me being irritable and anit-social!

Anyway, here is what I mean about the weather…

DSC00385.JPG One day it will be 30F and snowing but the snow does not stay around and look pretty it just makes everthing wet and muddy.  The upside though is when it is cloudy there is no wind!

DSC00386.JPG Then the next day it will be 75F sunny…beach weather. Today was a beach day. Hey weather, make up your mind already!

Okay, sorry, enough of my complaining but thank God there is only two more days left of this miserable month!

The Boulder group ride was fun today and thanks to the guy (sorry forgot your name) who said he reads my blog because that got me to update.

One of Those Days…

Uncategorized 3 Comments »

Yesterday was one of those days where I rode for five hours and it felt like ten or twelve!  No shittin’ the first 3.5 hours of the ride were uphill and into a headwind.  Anyway, here are some pictures…

DSC00374.JPGBig Tommy still riding up Big Tommy Canyon.

DSC00376.JPG Even though I was having negative amounts of fun…there were still some amazing views at Estes Park.

On a side note happy first day of spring to everyone!

Teddy here are what Jonny’s staples look like…

DSC00370.JPG Two of the four staples in Jonny’s head.  It is amazing they are like actual staples from a stapler and I did not even put them in!

Aside from Jonny’s staples I awoke yesterday moring to some nice new snow that fell during the night

DSC00367.JPG The view from my bedroom window!  Jonny and I had a bit of a snowball fight while shoveling the deck.  I was actually scared to hit him because I did not want to get the staples on his head wet and have them rust…he is lucky!

DSC00372.JPG Yesterday was a rather oppotune day for some much needed rest!

I did not spend the entire day on the couch just most of it!  The highlight of the day was definitely washing my sheets in Lavendar Fabric Softener…they are soo soft and smell soo good! Fabric Softener where have you been all my life?

PS. Happy belated St. Urho’s day (day before St. Patricks day) to all of my Finnish relatives!

Boulder Group Ride

Uncategorized 10 Comments »

Did the Boulder group ride this weekend and it was awesome!  I got up late, was rushed, it was crazy cold, Frank yelled at me for being late, and there were several crashes!

008.JPG The start of the group ride at the Boulder Fun Park parking lot.

007.JPG It is actually not a group ride but a race…and competitors come with high octane drinks such the liquid “Air Head” Beverage found here!

011.JPG Rolling out of town…pre-carnage!

009.JPG Is that a broken Health Net Maxxis wheel…whose could that be?

010.JPG Frank was very happy after his crash.  I bet if he had an Easton wheel, like the Bissell Pro Cycling Team rides, it would not have broken and he would not have crashed! Frank is tough (not like me tough though…probably about one fifteenth of me tough if I were to quantify it) and was okay.

012.JPGHappy Birthday to Ivan Stevic who turned 28 this past Wednesday…he was also on the ride.

003.JPG The last crash of the day involved my roommate Jonny Clarke* He cracked his head and needed to get some staples in it. Luckily he is also okay…but apparently hitting his head must have gave him gas…god damn!

016.JPG Post group ride refreshments…thanks Chris B. for buying me a coffee and cookie.

The lesson learned here is be careful on group rides and wear armor if you have to!

* Karl Menzies moved out of the Boulder house after being my roommate for the past three plus years.  Apparently, his girlfriend could better fulfill his needs than me!  Anyway, it was sad to see him go but I think I have left him with the skills to find his way on his own!
