Footing It
August 23rd, 2008An “anonymous” friend and I hiked Longs Peak yesterday…it was fun. Here are some pictures…
It was an early morning…got up at 2:32 AM…left the house at 3:00AM…picked up “anonymous” friend at 3:15 AM…hiking by 4:30AM. Due to the thunderstorms that usually appear in the afternoon it is important get an early start. That is if you want to avoid being struck by lightening!
Eventually the sun came up and we were able to see Long’s Peak.
Nearing the summit…scrambling up “The Homestretch.”
After less than four hours and seven and a half miles of hiking we reached the summit of Long’s Peak…elevation 14,255 feet.
On the way down a detour took us to Chasm Lake which sits at the base of Longs.
In my opinion the best part of the day was the view from the shitter near Chasm Lake! Who knew that dropping a deuce could be soo pleasant!

Cool story Garrett, but it doesn’t impress me unless there are bears involved.
